Andrew Phillips joined MTEC as Operations Director, bringing over 20 years of experience across private practice and the housebuilding industry. Beginning his career as an engineer, Andrew holds a degree in Environmental Civil Engineering and has built an extensive background in delivering high-quality engineering and construction projects.

She now oversees MTEC's financial operations, supporting the company's continued growth and ensuring robust financial governance.

As her role evolved, Laura developed a strong interest in the financial management of the business and progressed to Finance Director. She now oversees MTEC's financial operations, supporting the company's continued growth and ensuring robust financial governance.
Prior to joining MTEC, Laura spent 18 years working in NHS Biochemistry, where she gained extensive analytical and technical experience in specialist laboratory services.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys travelling and attending live music events whenever the opportunity arises.

Over the course of his career, John has held a variety of roles across multiple construction sectors, including rail, petrochemical, demolition, commercial new build, and housebuilding.

Over the course of his career, John has held a variety of roles across multiple construction sectors, including rail, petrochemical, demolition, commercial new build, and, for the past 10 years, housebuilding with two 5-star builders.
It was during this time that surface water management became an integral part of weekly site inspections and monitoring.
John's primary role now involves assisting clients in delivering projects that meet current environmental standards, while also working closely with our Technical team to develop and update technical drawings.

With over 25 years of experience in the civil engineering and construction industry, Garry brings extensive practical knowledge across a wide range of projects, from major Tier 1 infrastructure works to smaller contractor-led developments. Garry is known for his practical approach, extensive industry knowledge, and ability to work closely with site teams.

Stuart MacKenzie is a Civil Engineer specialising in surface water management design, bringing over 35 years of experience from the housebuilding sector. He began his career working for a consultancy in Glasgow that provided services across all aspects of civil and structural engineering. In 2023, Stuart joined MTEC, where he has focused solely on surface water management design.

Following a career path that took him through two further civil engineering consultancies, Stuart developed strong expertise in civil design, primarily focused on roads and drainage infrastructure. After 17 years in consultancy, he moved to a housing developer and quickly progressed into management, ensuring that all members of the team were fully trained in every aspect of housing design, including drainage and surface water management.
In 2023, Stuart joined MTEC, where he has focused solely on surface water management design. Through strong design practice and close relationships with clients and contractors, he ensures that each proposal is specifically tailored to its site, delivering systems that are compliant, effective, and environmentally responsible.
Stuart has further enhanced his practical design experience through educational courses at Abertay University, helping to ensure the best possible designs are delivered for clients and contractors.
Outside of work, Stuart enjoys countryside walks with his dogs, playing golf, and fishing.

Tom Gibbs is an Environmental Consultant specialising in construction environmental management, surface water management and sustainability reporting including carbon emissions data. He brings extensive experience from the housebuilding sector, having previously worked as Group Environmental Manager for Springfield Properties, one of Scotland’s leading residential developers.

During this role, Tom worked closely with operational teams, contractors, regulators, and consultants across large-scale housing developments throughout Scotland, developing a strong practical understanding of construction environmental risks, drainage infrastructure, compliance, and sustainable site management.
With a background spanning both environmental consultancy and live construction operations, Tom has particular expertise in surface water management, environmental inspections, Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), and carbon reporting. He is passionate about helping developers and contractors deliver projects efficiently while maintaining high environmental standards and meeting increasingly complex regulatory requirements.
Tom takes a practical and collaborative approach to environmental management, focusing on solutions that work effectively on active construction sites while protecting the surrounding environment. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, and exploring the outdoors across Scotland.

John Fletcher has a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering and an MSc in Water and Environmental Management and brings both practical site experience and specialist environmental knowledge to the MTEC team. He is proud to work alongside the MTEC team as an independent environmental consultant.

His experience spans a wide variety of construction projects, including flood protection schemes, river erosion works, and large residential developments with sensitive watercourse considerations. The MSc dissertation focused on silt settlement, further strengthening my technical understanding of water and environmental management.
He is proud to work alongside the MTEC team as an independent environmental consultant to deliver a high standard of service, helping to advise and protect a wide range of valued clients.
